History of Endeavour:
“Endeavour” was commissioned by British aviation pioneer Thomas Sopwith and was created to win the America's Cup. The yacht, both a masterpiece of boatbuilding craftsmanship and an expression of the courage of its crew, competed in 1934 against the American yacht "Rainbow" in the America's Cup. Professional sailors, hired for the occasion by Sopwith, decided to strike just before departure for the United States and were replaced by a group of enthusiastic amateurs. Ultimately, Endeavour had to acknowledge the superiority of the American “Rainbow”. In the following decades, the yacht changed owners many times and came close to being scrapped. In 1970, the yacht "Endeavour" sank in the River Medina on the Isle of Wight off the southern coast of England. After being raised onto land, "Endeavour" remained in a neglected state until 1984, when it was purchased and restored by Elizabeth Meyer, a citizen of the United States. For some time now, it has been possible to admire it in the port of Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
